Daniel Ricciardo is confirmed to drive the Red Bull F1 car during the 12 Hours Nurburgring at ‘Green Hell’ in September.
Apart from the tyre test that Ricciardo is likely to undertake this year, the Australian is now confirmed for a showrun in a Red Bull machine during the 12 Hours Nurburgring at the venue which is famously termed as ‘Green Hell’ by fans and everyone alike.
The event is slated for September 9 at Nordschleife. The last time a F1 car was driven at the circuit was in 2013 when Michael Schumacher took the Mercedes for a tour. Before that, Nick Heidfeld drove the BMW Sauber car in 2007.
It will be 10 years when Ricciardo hits the track in September. Red Bull hasn’t mentioned which car he will drive but considering that they use RB7 for most of its demo events, it should be the same one for the Nordschleife attack too.
Interestingly, Red Bull has never had its F1 car driven around the German circuit and this will be their first as well along with Ricciardo. In fact, the Milton Keynes-based team will only be third after Sauber and Mercedes in the modern era to hit the circuit.
