Anthoine Hubert broke the lap record in his efforts to take pole position, edging out Ben Barnicoat and Ukyo Sasahara with his time of 1:56.361. Because of this, Group A are the quicker group and will start on the odd numbers on the grid. Kevin Jörg, fresh from a race win yesterday afternoon, was the quickest in Group B, but his time wasn’t enough to keep Hubert behind.
After the accident yesterday, Ferdinand Habsburg didn’t take part in qualifying. Harrison Scott, who had his first podium and rookie win in race 1, but crashed out of race 2, couldn’t keep up with the increase in pace, finishing 11th in Group A.
The other drivers that graced the podium yesterday had more luck – Jörg quickest in his group with a 1:56.735, Hughes and Aitken behind him. All 3 drivers will be looking to get past the likes of Hubert, Barnicoat and Sasahara to get back into the podium positions, but it won’t be easy, with championship leader Louis Delétraz and the rapid Darius Oskoui starting behind them.
