Latvia’s Reinis Nitiss has announced on his social media that he has left the EKS team after a year driving in the FIA World Rallycross Championship for the 2016 World RX Champions.
The 2014 World RX of Norway race winner joined EKS for 2017 as an Individual entrant, in a third car alongside Sweden’s Mattias Ekstrom and Finland’s Topi Heikkinen, but has this morning announced that he is seeking new challenges for this season.
“2017 with EKS was a great experience and I will value the lessons learned and cherish the fun moments we had together! Thank you each and every one at #EKSRX and Audi Sport – now it’s time for me to seek new challenges in 2018,” he said.
The Latvian driver has raced for the OlsbergsMSE, Muennich Motorsport and EKS teams in his four year World RX career after winning the FIA European Rallycross Championship for Super1600 in 2013. He finished third overall in the World RX Drivers’ standings in 2014, and helped OlsbergsMSE to win the first Teams’ title.
EKS owner Mattias Ekstrom will announce his future plans in a press conference next Monday (January 29th).
