Red Bull Racing has launched its 2019 F1 car, the first to be powered by Honda, with a shakedown at Silverstone circuit.

Red Bull ended its long-standing relationship with Renault in 2018 and joined hands with Honda for 2019 and beyond as the Austrian outfit became a ‘works’ team since the Japanese manufacturer is their exclusive supplier.

Even though Toro Rosso is also a partner, but since the Italian team is effectively Red Bull’s junior squad, it helps the senior team to keep the ‘works’ status. The new Honda-powered RB15 was unveiled with a shakedown at Silverstone circuit.

The filming day allows them to complete 100km with demo Pirelli tyres. Meanwhile, the one-off livery revealed by the team comes in the usual matte finish with the blue remaining along with red in abundance – it is not certain if they will use it for test run as well.

The team finished third behind Mercedes and Ferrari in 2018 and was quite ahead of fourth-placed Renault. With Honda now onboard, the calls were hugely positive with the power unit but it remains to be seen how competitive they can be in 2019.
