Red Bull suffered from lack of fuel pressure in F1 Bahrain GP, with a fix in place to not let it repeat during Saudi Arabian GP.
The speculation post Bahrain GP was about Red Bull facing a problem related to fuel pump. There were murmurs of an engine related issue as well, but post-race Christian Horner clarified the stance and put down any speculation of a bigger engine issue.
After few days of diagnosing the issue after stripping off the whole car, Red Bull found the problem to ‘lack of fuel pressure’ on both the cars. They note that correct amount of fuel was in the cars, but there was a vacuum that prevented pumps from drawing it.
That in turn didn’t put through enough fuel into the engines which made it shut. Red Bull note that it has taken necessary steps to correct the issue, not just for Saudi Arabia but also for the rest of the season and hope it doesn’t repeat.
“Both cars suffered from a lack of fuel pressure last weekend. The correct amount of fuel was in both cars, but a vacuum prevented the pumps from drawing fuel and delivering it to the engine. We’ve taken the necessary steps to correct this issue and we expect no problems this weekend,” stated a statement from Red Bull.
