Red Bull Racing is sticking with Sergio Perez for rest of the 2024 F1 season amid rumours about mid-season swap.

After a meeting between Horner, Helmut Marko and other key figures at Red Bull regarding the future of Perez and the F1 team’s performance in the first half, the team has clarified one bit of news regarding the Mexican’s future with the outfit.

Despite being in struggling form off-late, Red Bull will stick with Perez for the rest of the 2024 F1 season, thereby retaining faith on the Mexican amid huge championship fight against the likes of McLaren, Mercedes and Ferrari in recent times.

“Checo remains a Red Bull Racing driver despite recent speculation and we look forward to seeing him perform at tracks he has previously excelled at after the summer break,” read a short statement from the F1 team to the media.

While Max Verstappen has anyhow managed to extend his drivers’ title lead, Red Bull as a team has been bleeding points to McLaren on the constructors’ side, where both Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri are scoring strong with wins under their belt.

Perez has been struggling massively since the announcement of him being retained for two more F1 seasons i.e until the end of 2026. Despite that, rumours circled around a potential mid-season swap with Daniel Ricciardo and or Liam Lawson.

Both are penciled to undertake a filming day with Visa Cash App RB at Imola this week alongside Yuki Tsunoda and Ayumu Iwasa. The notion was for the filming run be taken up as potential shootout, but with today’s news, it could be one for the second VCARB seat.

The retention of Perez comes as a surprise considering how quickly Red Bull chops and changes drivers if they don’t feel like he’s performing well enough. But anyhow, the Mexican gets more time to return to form and aide the team to win the teams’ title.
