Red Bull and Aston Martin have reached an agreement in relation to Dan Fallows for him to join the latter F1 outfit during 2022 season.
Aston Martin finally announced that former Head of Aerodynamics at Red Bull Racing, Fallows, can join the Silverstone-based team after a financial agreement was reached between teams in a joint statement late on Tuesday evening.
Fallows’ notice period was called into question by former employer Red Bull last summer after Aston Martin’s initial announcement that they were signing him as Technical Director. The talk over him continued even after the 2021 season ended.
Red Bull were determined he would fulfill the entirety of his contract as to not give any potential performance advantage to Aston Martin through the knowledge Fallows would have inadvertently gained from them during his tenure about the 2022 car.
Upon the decision of Fallows to join Aston Martin, in fear of passing any sensitive information, where the car is concerned, he was moved to Red Bull Advanced Technologies on a road car project for the period since the saga unfolded.
In 2014 Fallows was involved in a court case involving Red Bull and McLaren as the former looked to regain his services from the then-Ron Dennis run outfit to head up its teams of aerodynamicists. He had another case in relation to Aston Martin.
But an out of court settlement has seemingly reached after a joint statement was made by the two F1 outfits. He will officially join Aston Martin on April 2 of this year, but until then Fallows will remain an employee of Red Bull Technology.
“We would like to thank Dan for his many years of excellent service and wish him well for the future,” stated Red Bull’s Christian Horner, upon the announcement. At the same time, Aston Martin’s Martin Whitmarsh added:
“We are pleased to have reached an agreement with Red Bull which releases Dan early from his contract and are looking forward to him joining the team.” Meanwhile, Fallows commented: “I’ve enjoyed many happy years at Red Bull Racing and am proud of what we achieved. I am looking forward to next season and a new challenge.”
