Rashid Al Dhaheri has confirmed his joining Van Amersfoort Racing to tackle his first season in FIA Formula 3 in 2027. With this signing, the Dutch team completes its lineup of drivers, which already includes Enzo Deligny and Yevan David.
Al Dhaheri, with two seasons in Formula 4 both in Italy and in the national championship of the United Arab Emirates, made the leap to Formula Regional in 2025. In this competition, he stood out with a sixth place in the Middle East Championship standings with Mumbai Falcons and an eighth place in Europe with Prema.
For his second year in Formula Regional, Al Dhaheri switched to R-ace GP in 2026, where he started as runner-up in the Middle East Trophy with three wins in his pocket. In Europe, he finished fourth in the standings, remaining in contention for the title until the last race. His victories contributed to R-ace GP retaining the title of championship for teams.
The young Emirati driver, 18 years old, considered this opportunity as an “important moment in my career,” although he acknowledges that the hard work has just begun. Al Dhaheri expressed his pride in representing the Emirates and the region at this level. He also stated his determination to prepare himself to the fullest for the 2027 season.
Brad Joyce, director of Van Amersfoort Racing, welcomed Al Dhaheri, highlighting his “very strong season” in Formula Regional, with three victories and eight podiums, finishing fourth in the overall standings. Joyce emphasized the Emirati’s speed throughout the year and his ability to compete in a very competitive field, making him a good starting point for his debut in Formula 3.
Alongside Keanu Al Azhari at Hitech, Al Dhaheri will become the first Emirati driver to compete in a FIA F3 race when the 2027 season begins in Bahrain.
