Rashid Al Dhaheri, from R-ace GP, has achieved his first victory in the Formula Regional Europe following an intense race at the Red Bull Ring, marked by penalties and track incidents.
Starting from 11th position, Al Dhaheri showed great determination to climb to the top spot. Dion Gowda, from Van Amersfoort Racing, led the competition from the beginning, but a five-second penalty for a jump start relegated him to sixth place in the end.
On the podium, Reza Seewooruthun and Alex Ninovic completed the places of honor for Rodin Motorsport, which demonstrated good performance in its first participation in the championship.
The start was frantic, with Gowda taking command from the front row, while Alexandre Munoz was left immobilized. MP Motorsport driver Alexander Abkhazava was involved in an accident with Marcus Saeter, causing the safety car to be deployed in an attempt to avoid the stopped car. Later, the safety car would reappear due to an incident involving Emil Frey, Miguel Costa, and Sajer Almaosherji.
The race resumed around the eighth lap, and Gowda attempted to extend his lead while Al Dhaheri sought to overtake Ninovic. In a pivotal moment, the Emirati driver made a crucial pass at Turn 4, gaining key positions throughout the race.
As the laps went by, Al Dhaheri chased third-placed Reno Francot, executing a maneuver that secured him second place. On the final lap, Ninovic managed to take third place from Francot, thus completing a good result for his team.
However, the results are provisional, with several warnings for track limits still to be processed.
