Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen has opted for a different choice of compound than teammate Sebastian Vettel and Mercedes drivers for the Formula 1 Brazil GP.
The newly crowned 2018 champion Lewis Hamilton and his title rival Sebastian Vettel will have nine sets of supersoft compound along with three each of soft and one medium compound for the Brazil GP.
Mercedes’ Valtteri Bottas will also have nine sets of supersoft compound along with two each of soft and medium as does the likes of Williams’ Lance Stroll, Haas’ Kevin Magnussen and Sauber’s Marcus Ericsson.
Also with a same choice like Hamilton and Vettel will be the Red Bull Racing drivers along with Williams’ Sergey Sirotkin, Haas’ Romain Grosjean and Sauber’s Charles Leclerc whereas their teammates have gone with Raikkonnen and Bottas.
As alluded, Raikkonen will be the only driver among the top three teams with eight sets of supersoft compound at his disposal like the two Racing Point Force India drivers along with Renault and Toro Rosso drivers.
The Finn will have three sets of soft and one of medium like Nico Hulkenberg and Pierre Gasly whereas the rest including Carlos Sainz, Brendon Hartley, Sergio Perez and Esteban Ocon have gone for four sets of soft compound and one of the medium.
The only team with just the seven sets of supersoft compound will be McLaren with Fernando Alonso and Stoffel Vandoorne opting for four sets of soft and two of medium in their other choices for the Brazil GP.
The teams get 13 set of tyres for the weekend, with one set of the softest compound to be kept for use in Q3. After the completion of qualifying, the Top 10 drivers will have to return that set, while the other drivers can keep it for the race.
For the races, each driver has to keep one set each of the two harder compounds available for the weekend, while the rest 10 sets they are free to choose from the three available compounds for the particular drive.
