Racing Point has unveiled its new F1 livery for 2020 season in a grand launch in Austria as BWT becomes the title sponsor.

Following the release of several 2020 F1 cars over the past number of days, the Racing Point F1 team have unveiled its new tweaked livery abode the RP20, in a special launch in Austria at the home of BWT, who becomes the team’s title sponsor.

The pink-white color pattern stays on RP20 with the blue of SportPesa removed after the latter ended its sponsorship deal. The team has also been renamed to ‘BWT Racing Point Formula One Team’, which is another change for in the last few years.

In fact, Racing Point will have another change in 2021 when it becomes Aston Martin F1 Team. It looks like a late change as the FIA entry list for 2020 had the SportPesa name – which still stands – as the governing body is yet to release an updated version.

Also returning are drivers Lance Stroll and Sergio Perez, with the former approaching his second season with the team, and the latter, his seventh, albeit the first five of those seasons were under Force India before the change in ownership.

Under the engine cover of Racing Point RP20 will sit Mercedes’ 2020 power unit, as the two parties continue their partnership which has spanned since the 2009 F1 season when they took Ferrari’s position as the British team’s supplier.

In 2020, Racing Point will be hoping to make up lost ground from last year, where they dropped several positions from 2018. The aims is clear to regain fourth in the constructors’ championship but they have the likes of McLaren and Renault to go through.

Racing Point team principal Otmar Szafnauer said: “Since 2017, we have thoroughly enjoyed building a successful partnership with BWT and we’re delighted to be celebrating our fourth year together by welcoming them as our Title Partner.

“This expanded collaboration truly reflects the loyalty, commitment and energy that they bring to the Racing Point family. I’m pleased we could launch our season here in Mondsee at the home of BWT and shine a spotlight on the valuable work being done by BWT to drive sustainability.

“We have enjoyed many memorable moments both on and off track already and we now look forward to adding more in the 2020 season.” At the same time, BWT CEO Andreas Weibenbacher added: “Over the past three years we have brought our distinctive pink colour into F1 and built a very strong relationship with Racing Point.

“We are committed to helping this team achieve its objectives and this is why we have chosen to increase our support by becoming title partner. Working together in this way we believe the team can be much more competitive on the track in 2020.

“We will also support the team’s push to become more sustainable. Together we will cut down the use of disposable bottles at the track, minimise plastic waste and facilitate the local treatment and consumption of water.”
