Peugeot has announced that Alex Quinn will occupy a driver seat for the World Endurance Championship (WEC) 2027, marking a significant change in its driver lineup. Quinn will join the Hypercar team after standing out as a test and development driver during this year.

The British driver took his first laps with the 9X8 model during the rookie tests in Bahrain last November and was subsequently formally integrated into the Peugeot program as the ‘seventh driver’. Since then, he has been prepared to make the jump to a competition seat, following the path of his predecessor, Malthe Jakobsen.

The news of Quinn’s appointment was made official on Thursday, just days after he clinched the LMP2 title in the IMSA SportsCar Championship with CrowdStrike by APR. ‘Becoming an official driver for Team Peugeot TotalEnergies in the WEC is a dream come true,’ said Quinn, who will turn 26 in December.

His career began with single-seaters, where he achieved victories in British F3 and Renault Eurocup before moving to Formula Regional Europe in 2021. Quinn transitioned to sports car racing in 2023, achieving success in both IMSA and the European Le Mans Series.

Despite being new to the WEC, Quinn has been present at the 24 Hours of Le Mans for the past three seasons, triumphing this year in the LMP2 Pro/Am subcategory.

Emmanuel Esnault, team director, expressed his satisfaction with Quinn’s promotion, highlighting his driving skills and recent successes in LMP2. ‘We are excited for this new chapter, with Quinn following the footsteps of other emerging talents in the category.’

This change is part of a broader restructuring at Peugeot, with the departure of drivers like Stoffel Vandoorne and Theo Pourchaire, who will focus on other projects. The arrival of Quinn and Robert Shwartzman has been confirmed, with expectations to see Jean-Eric Vergne in a competition seat again after focusing on testing during 2026.
