Here it comes the second qualifying weekend session where pilots have attempted to improve the time set in the first session during these 30 minutes. It was not easy because it has been an eventful session. The combined time of the two qualifying sessions will set the grid for Saturday’s race (10 laps)
First few minutes of the session and there is already a red flag, that has been the trend today in the second qualifying in Macau. The first one due to Chiyo crash with the protections this situation aborted the first attempts to set a good time. The track conditions have improved from yesterday to today, from the first attempt of the day times have improved by six tenths. The Brazilian Derani was first with two tenths of advantage over Lynn
On the second attempt Blomqvist (son of legendary rally driver Stig Blomqvist) and Rosenqvist got a similar time to the Brazilian, even improving it, the GAP was just milliseconds, when Zheng was in the protections and forced a new red flag
Once the session resumed and again the session would stop after Giovanazzi´s accident, only a few drivers managed to avoid the accident that caused a new red flag, including Sainz, Tinckell and Costa were the only ones who could do this attempt and improve their time of yesterday
With ten minutes left of the session, the final fight for pole has been hard-fought, Rosenqvist performed a magic lap and took almost half a second of advantage, Auer was in second position but very close with Lynn and Derani. Sainz would struggle during this stint and could not drive anymore. But it was not all said, Marciello Raffaele Ferrari Academy driver improved all records and placed first getting his pole in the Macau GP.
The last attempt Rosenqvist and Blomqvist to regain the top position were useless, the only driver to take pole could be Lynn but his attempt wasnt enough to get pole position just staying one tenth to third, preceded by Rosenqvist. Da Costa with problems to stay in front finally he got fifth in the latest attempt
