The pre-season test dates for the 2019 FIA F2 and F3 championships has been revealed with four different venues staging the five tests.
The calendar for the 2019 season was already released after the World Motorsport Council meet in Russia with F2 taking place in 12 circuits alongside F1 and F3 on nine of those venues with its finale expected to be in Macau rather than Abu Dhabi.
The pre-season test dates has now been confirmed as well for both the championships with two scheduled runs in F2 and three in F3 between February and April. A shakedown for the new F3 car is expected too but nothing has been revealed about that yet.
None of the five tests will co-incide with each other though as the three-day test for F2 is scheduled for February 26-28 at Jerez and March 5-7 at Barcelona – both in Spain – as opposed to France and Bahrain, which were the venues in 2018.
The three two-day test for F3 will start with the first one during March 20-21 at Paul Ricard in France, followed by the second one during April 9-10 at Barcelona in Spain and the final one during April 17-18 at Hungaroring in Hungary.
The tests will give the F2 teams further time to fine tune the reliability it faced in 2018 while for the F3 teams, it will be their first chance to know the limits of the new car. FIA’s Charlie Whiting though believes the F3 cars will be reliable even though its brand new.
