Porsche found with procedural breach as FIA publishes Formula E cost cap review, while Maverick Vinales hires Jorge Lorenzo as performance coach.
The FIA confirms that its Cost Cap Administration has reviewed the manufacturer’s reporting documentation for the two-year period covering Seasons 9 and 10 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship as provided for by the FIA Formula E Financial Regulations for Formula E Manufacturers.
These Financial Regulations are a very complex set of rules that manufacturers were required to adapt to for the first time. The review of the reporting documentation submitted has been an intensive and thorough process, and manufacturers gave their full support in providing the required information to assess their financial situation during this two-year period of the Financial Regulations for Formula E Manufacturers.
Porsche was found to be in procedural breach however, the Cost Cap Administration recognised that they have not exceeded the Cost Cap for the two-year period, that they have acted cooperatively throughout the review process, that this is the first complete review of the two-year period under the Financial Regulations for Formula E Manufacturers and that there is no accusation or evidence of aggravating factors.
In these circumstances, the Cost Cap Administration offered to Porsche an Accepted Breach Agreement (“ABA“) to resolve this matter. That offer was accepted by the Manufacturer. An ABA dated 21 November 2025 was therefore entered into by and between the Cost Cap Administration and Porsche pursuant to Article 8.19 of the FIA Formula E Financial Regulations for Formula E Manufacturers (“Financial Regulations”).

Maverick Vinales, Jorge Lorenzo –
Maverick Vinales has announced a “new chapter in his sporting project” with the addition of MotoGP Hall of Famer Jorge Lorenzo as his performance coach. Announced on Instagram after rumours during the season finale Valencia GP, the post says the goal is clear: fight for the Championship. It continues:
Lorenzo will work alongside Viñales on a continuous basis across three key areas:
- Physical and athletic preparation, with a strong focus on routines, training, and recovery tailored to the current demands of MotoGP
- Strategic coaching, aimed at pressure and risk management, race consistency, and decision-making during critical moments
- Technical-sport development, reinforcing race-weekend analysis and planning
The collaboration will be supported by a team coordinated by Lorenzo and fully aligned with Viñales’ project, with the shared aim of achieving solid, sustainable progress in the medium and long term.
Maverick Vinales: “Bringing Jorge into this journey is a huge opportunity to learn and improve in every aspect. His experience and outside perspective will help us take confident steps forward. I’m starting this new stage with great motivation and excitement.”
Jorge Lorenzo: “Maverick has always had natural talent and great speed. My role is to accompany him, share my experience and knowledge, and help him reach his best version. I strongly believe that if we improve in each of the key areas, success will be inevitable.”
After much of the latter half of 2025 on the sidelines following his shoulder injury sustained in Germany, Vinales will now aim to be back on top for the start of 2026 – and with a new performance coach in his corner.
