Porsche 963 presents its new GTP tire before Sebring

The Brazilian driver Felipe Nasr has expressed his confidence that Porsche Penske Motorsport has achieved a better understanding of the new Michelin Pilot Sport Endurance GTP tire ahead of the 12 Hours of Sebring taking place this weekend.

Nasr, who competes alongside Julien Andlauer and Laurin Heinrich in car number 7, arrives at this race after winning the Rolex 24 At Daytona for the third consecutive time. Recently, they conducted tests at the Sebring circuit, aiming to adjust the vehicle for the new tire conditions.

During the tests, Nasr noted that it was necessary to modify the baseline setup to improve the car’s balance in medium and low-speed corners. “We have made significant improvements, but it is always a challenge to manage the changing circuit conditions, especially the transition between day and night,” he added.

One of the main aspects to consider with the new tire is the adaptation to different compounds, one of which will be used exclusively at Sebring. Nasr acknowledges that they are still learning about the tire’s behavior, especially in warm conditions.

“The improvement in the operating temperature of the tires has been noticeable. At Daytona, the temperatures were not extreme, but at Sebring, with typically warmer weather, the conditions will be different. I am convinced that we start with a good base for this competition,” concluded Nasr.
