Emanuele Pirro has quietly taken up the FIA Single-Seater Committee President role, replacing Gian Carlo Minardi.

Having left his McLaren driver academy role just few months back, former F1 driver Pirro has signed up to be the FIA Single-Seater Committee’s President for the new term in 2024, where he has replaced former team boss, Minardi.

The Italian was named the President in 2022 for 2023 where he took upon the FIA job alongside his role as President of the Imola circuit. It is not clear when his time ended, as the governing body only refreshed the committee’s list on May 15 of 2024.

The new list had Pirro as the President, who switched to the FIA role rather quietly, with no press release from the governing body either. He is to lead a 20-member team which includes the likes of Laurent Mekies, Bruno Michel, Allan McNish and more.

Pirro’s first mention as the President came for the announcement made regarding the FIA Motorsport Games, which will use updated F4 cars for this year’s event in Spain. “With series now established on no fewer than four continents and a popularity that keeps growing, FIA Formula 4 is widely regarded as the first step on the single-seater ladder for drivers stepping up from karting into car racing,” said the Italian.

“Its inclusion in the FIA Motorsport Games since the first edition perfectly aligns with our strategy as the event seeks to promote categories for upcoming talents, and I’m really much looking forward to discovering who will walk in the footsteps of our 2022 gold medalist Andrea Kimi Antonelli.”
