Ducati tester Michele Pirro will replace injured Fabio di Giannantonio for the MotoGP race in Barcelona dubbed as Solidarity GP.

Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team announced that Ducati Test Rider Michele Pirro will replace the recovering Fabio Di Giannantonio during the Motul Solidarity Grand Prix of Barcelona weekend.

Following Diggia’s shoulder surgery in preparation for the 2025 season, Andrea Iannone was a substitute rider at the Malaysian GP. However, this time, Pirro will be Marco Bezzecchi’s partner in the VR46 garage at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

Pirro’s appointment is part of the Borgo Panigale factory’s preparation efforts for the first Official MotoGP Test of the 2025 season which will take place at the same circuit on Tuesday (19/11) next week.

Due to Ducati’s outstanding performance in recent years, the new concession system introduced in 2024 will mark Pirro’s first appearance this year, and his first since a wild card at the 2023 Japanese GP.
