Pirelli concludes Barcelona F1 test with Ferrari drivers

Pirelli Motorsport concludes tyre testing in Barcelona with Ferrari drivers where the F1 team ran its regular drivers and reserves.

Ferrari kick-started the 2024 F1 season with the first running at Barcelona. It co-incided with the Pirelli tyre testing of the 2025 compound. Carlos Sainz was the first to go in the morning session in the SF-23, with Charles Leclerc taking over in the afternoon.

Sainz completed 79 laps on the first day on Monday and set a best time of 1m15.610s, while Leclerc did 60 laps with a fastest lap of 1m16.097s. On Tuesday, the Spaniard did 90 laps with a time of 1m15.802s, as the Monegasque did 72 laps with 1m15.068s time.

The compounds that both the drivers ran weren’t told to them where Pirelli ‘took in comparisons between different types of prototype, both in terms of compound and construction, aimed at reducing tyre overheating’, for the 2025 F1 season.

With the first Pirelli F1 test done, the next one will take place at Jerez on February 6-7 with Mercedes and Aston Martin in action. Alongside the tyre testing, Ferrari also ran Arthur Leclerc and Oliver Bearman, driving the F1-75 under the Testing of Previous Cars rule. The car was also driven by C Leclerc and Sainz when they were not undertaking the Pirelli tyre run.
