After dominating the qualifying, Pietro Fittipaldi dominated the first race of the 2017 Formula V8 3.5 championship in Silverstone, winning ahead of Egor Orudzhev and Alfonso Celis Jr. If the driver’s grid is disappointing, this did not prevent the race to be interesting on the end.
Rene Binder, who was second on the grid, completely missed his start and could not fight with Pietro Fittipaldi at the start of the race. This first lap was also hectic despite the few cars on the grid. Indeed, following a hook, Roy Nissany was forced to abandon while Fittipaldi was taking off.
The fight was bitter between Nelson Mason and Yu Kanamaru. The first wanted to fight with his teammate Konstantin Tereschenko and it was finally Kanamaru that had finally encrusted between the two.
The end of the race was marked by a great Alfonso Celis Jr. Long stuck behind René Binder. The Mexican driver returned to the lead group and struggled with Matevos Isaakyan. The Force India reserve driver encased in a mouse hole and the pressure he put on Isaakyan forced the Russian to go to the blame. Celis returned to the two leading men, signing the fastest time but it was Fittipaldi who imposed himself.
