Kimi Raikkonen’s son Robin had a karting session with his dad after Felipe Massa shared about his son Felipinho, a few days ago.
The younger Raikkonen finally got the taste of what his dad did years ago after Kimi took his son Robin to karting – as promised – in what looks like a first proper test run for the Finn with the caption ‘ACEMAN BEGINS’.
Raikkonen Sr along with his wife Minttu shared photos of Robin driving a #3 CRG kart on Thursday – the specification of the kart though is not mentioned but could be of the Micro Max level, considering his age.
He drove around a wet karting track with his dad sharing valuable tips. Robin has driven/ridden smaller quads/bikes so far but hasn’t had a proper kart run, with Kimi also not putting any pressure on the youngster.
In fact, Raikkonen talked about Robin’s interests back in April during Azerbaijan GP, when the Finn shared images of him testing motocross. “For sure, he is into it [motorsport/motorbikes],” said Raikkonen.
“He enjoys cars but more bikes right now. But who knows, today they like one thing and tomorrow it is completely 180 degrees on something else. Probably in the summer we will take him in a go-kart for the first time and if he likes it he can do it.
“But you never know with the kids: one day it is this and the next day it is that. I don’t mind, if it only comes as a hobby then it is a great hobby for them and it is probably easier for me.
“For both of them [children] we will support: If they want to be dancers, then for me I have absolutely zero issues as long as they enjoy it. I think anything that they do is better than hanging around in a train station, fighting or staying at home playing computer games.”
Video is the second one:
Raikkonen becomes the latest though to get his son to test karts after his former F1 rival and current Venturi Formula E racer Massa took his son Felhipinho to karting as well, recently, which was the second time for him.
