Sergio Perez says there is no harm in taking notes and reference from Max Verstappen, as he praises their growing relationship.

Despite the stories of friction, Perez has maintained that the relationship between him and Red Bull teammate Max Verstappen is going well in these three years. Even though at times they ask for different things, but largely they are the same.

“Our relationship is really good,” said Perez. “The whole engineering, when we are in all those briefings through so many races, I think it’s been good. We’ve been pushing at times in different directions, but at the same time we’ve been strongly asking for the same stuff.
So that also has been positive for the team.

“I think it has been always good. This is our third season together, so it’s been a good one,” summed up Perez, who also praised how Verstappen has been handling his growth and going on with his job where he is dominating year-on-year.

“It’s how he has been dealing with it has been really impressive, he has done a tremendous job, and he has been really on another level,” said Perez. “It’s great to see, obviously we’d all like to be on his position, but there’s only one champion per year.”

Seeing this growth, it is natural for his rivals to ascertain what he is doing different and things they can pick from him. Perez being his teammate is closest to check his data and the Mexican says there is no harm in using it as a reference.

“Definitely there are things that you learn from him,” said Perez. “I think I have the best reference out there because he was the one who was so competitive. So I think there’s no harm in looking at what he’s doing, how he’s doing it and trying to learn and improve, see what works for you that he’s doing differently to you. I think I’ve always had a very open approach and I think it’s something that works well.”
