Sergio Perez misplaced his helmet during a recent visit to Miami for a road trip/filming event ahead of the debut F1 race in the city.
Between the races in Australia and Imola, Red Bull’s Perez visited Miami to stage a road trip/filming at Miami International Circuit, where he started from New York and reached the new F1 destination in a special ‘Race to Miami’ episode.
Perez drove the RB7 as Red Bull filmed the whole journey. “I loved taking part in my first Red Bull road trip, I remember seeing the one of Daniel crossing the Golden Gate Bridge and never thought I would get the chance to be part of it,” he said.
“I think Miami is the perfect place for Formula One, it’s a very fun city and there’s a good energy there. The track is looking awesome and I can’t wait to see all the fans there. Austin always feels like a home race for me and I think Miami will be similar.”
Post the trip, when asked by media at Imola about his road trip/filming and how he found the Miami circuit overall, Perez did not speak much on nuances of the F1 track, but revealed that he misplaced his helmet during the filming and he is yet to get it.
“I don’t want to give anything away because obviously here are some drivers so… It was a good production,” said Perez. “Someone took my helmet away from me, so I’m still looking for my helmet. I don’t know where it is so far. So hopefully I’m able to find it later. Regarding the circuit, I have tried it on the sim. I think it’s a good a good circuit.
“I think it’s… it has a little bit of a twisty area that it’s quite difficult to get right and the visibility can be difficult. But I think racing can be good with all those long straights so yeah, I just hope the asphalt can be good and we can have good racing because yeah, when we come to new circuits we will find some good surprises,” summed up Perez.
