Stefano Domenicali announced this morning, in a press conference in Madonna di Campiglio for the “Wrooom”, that Pedro Martínez de la Rosa will join the team this season as a simulator developer. “De la Rosa’s signing will mean a progress on the simulator, which is an aspect we need to improve. He’s a very brave driver and he’s got a lot of experience from his years in McLaren and in Formula 1. The decision has been made by Ferrari and not by Alonso, even though his good relationship with him and Felipe has helped. His arrival is a very good thing for Ferrari.”, said Domenicali.
Ferrari will be the seventh team De la Rosa will be in, after driving (testing or racing) for Jordan, Arrows, Jaguar, McLaren, Sauber and HRT (not forgetting his work for Pirelli as a test driver). We’ve only heard words from Pedro via Twitter: “@Pedrodelarosa1: To Ferrari! Thank you all!”
After several rumours lately about Pedro’s future, related to McLaren, Mercedes or Williams, the Catalan driver has decided to sign up with Ferrari. It is said that others drivers like Pérez and Hamilton had asked their teams to try and make Pedro join them for 2013, which shows how De la Rosa, aged 41, is one of the most highly regarded people in the paddock, both as a driver and as a person.
