Ducati has officially announced the signing of Pedro Acosta, who will join the official MotoGP team for the next two seasons, 2027 and 2028. This signing is part of a dream lineup with Marc Márquez, both riders fighting to take the Italian team to the top of the podium.
The news of Acosta’s signing was made public on Wednesday, just hours after the announcement of Francesco Bagnaia’s departure, while Márquez’s new contract had been confirmed the day before. The collaboration agreements between manufacturers and the MotoGP Sports Entertainment Group had been postponed until recently, which had kept multiple rider announcements on hold.
With the start of the new 850cc era next season, Acosta’s arrival at Ducati is considered one of the most notable moves on the circuit. Although his salary is not among the highest, Acosta will receive significant bonuses for wins and titles, a common aspect in Ducati’s contract.
Acosta, who recently turned 22, has proven to be one of the most promising talents in the championship. He won the Moto3 title as a rookie and the Moto2 title in his second year. Training in the Red Bull Rookies Cup, he won the championship in 2020 and was supported by KTM to compete in Moto3 with a satellite team in 2024, where he achieved five podiums. In 2025 he was promoted to the official KTM team, where he continued to rack up successes with five more podiums, and three this year, although he is seeking his first victory in the premier class.
