After living a crazy race because of rain, Palou has taken the victory of the second race of World Series Formula V8 3.5 in Nürburgring, Germany. Behind him, Tereschenko finished second and Isaakyan third, but due to a penalty, Tereschenko ran out of podium.

The race started behind the Safety Car, which was on track for 5 minutes. Once the race was relaunched, Isaakyan tried to overtake Menchaca but he wasn’t successful, He almost spun at turn 2. In that same lap, Cipriani spun at the exit of turn 4 and cause the last safety car appearance. Meanwhile, Isaakyan had taken second place.

When the race was relaunched, Celis suffered a dangerous spun in the middle of the track, but all the drivers managed to not crash into him.

He was the first to made the mandatory pit stop, changing wet tyres to dry one’s. On the next lap, Tereschenko did the same even though the track was still very wet. Meanwhile Menchaca fought with Isaakyan to recover the second position, while Fioravanti abandoned.

The next who join the pits were Orudzhev and Nissany. Tereschenko, who already stopped, was driving 2 seconds faster per lap than race leader and team-mate Alex Palou.

Once all the drivers made their pit stop, Isaakyan was took the lead ahead of Palou, Tereschenko, Orudzhev and Menchaca. On the next lap, Isaakyan had a small run at turn 1 that allowed Palou to return to first position.

During the last 5 minutes, Palou started setting the fastest laps of the race to create a big gap with Tereschenko and Isaakyan to secure his maiden victory. On last lap, Menchaca retired from the race after another spun off and crash at turn 1.

Finally, checkered flag fell and the Catalan took the victory 8 seconds ahead of team-mate Tereschenko who crossed the line in second place, signing a one-two for Teo Martin’s team. Isaakyan finished third, followed by Orudzhev, Nissany, Fittipaldi, Celis, Kanamaru, Binder and Menchaca.

Even so, it is note that Tereschenko crossed the white line leaving the pit-lane and Race Director imposed a 10-second penalty. Therefore, Isaakyan finished second and Orudzhev third.

An almost perfect weekend for Isaakyan who leaves Europe on top in the driver’s standings. The Russian is 5 points away from Fittipaldi. Orudzhev is up to third with 8 points less than his team-mate, while Celis Jr is fourth with only 13 points less. Still on the championship run in 5th is Roy Nissany with 15 points less, Binder is 6th with 23 points less.

World Series now leaves the old continent to join Mexico City and Austin on September, and season finale in Sakhir on November.
