Palou will already join the Spain-based team at FIA Formula 2’s second to last event to be held at the Circuito de Jerez next weekend

The Circuito de Jerez is set to host the penultimate round of the FIA Formula 2 and the last event on European soil before the traditional season finale in Abu Dhabi in November. Just like Barcelona, Jerez is another second home to Campos Racing with Campos Racing being popular amongst local fans. It’s worth mentioning that the Andalusian track hosted GP3 collective testing but never a meeting counting towards the championship.

On this occasion, Campos Racing is pleased to announce a new addition as Spaniard Álex Palou, thanks to Circuit de Catalunya’s Young Drivers Programme, will replace Robert Visoiu at the Circuito de Jerez and the Yas Marina Circuit, the latter absent for personal reasons. Palou made his Formula 3 debut with Campos Racing in 2014 with three wins and 11 podiums to his credit in the Euroformula Open series.

After two years with Campos Racing in the GP3 Series again with P1 podium spots, Palou has contested the Japanese Formula 3 championship scoring three wins and ten podium finishes.

Swiss Ralph Boschung will be driving his Dallara GP2/11 as usual. Boschung has targeted points at every race and expects another points-scoring finish in Jerez.

The curves of the Circuito de Jerez are very different. The track in southern Spain is 4.423 kilometers long and 3.038 meters of these are the length of the straights, so it’s a fast layout. The temperatures rise too much even in October, which will make it harder for tires and teams will be attempting to play the rights cards with pit strategy.

Friday will be devoted to free practice and qualifying sessions. Both races will take place on Saturday and Sunday at 14.00 (CET).
