Palmer wins at home and extends lead

Will Palmer got the second victory of the season in the first round of the Silverstone race. The podium was completed by Chaves and Shwartzman.

The first race of the weekend of the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 began with Max Defourny (R-ace GP) from pole position. The Belgian, however, would not have a race as he expected, getting stuck in the gravel at the beginning and abandoning the race.

MP Motorsport of Neil Verhagen and Jarno Opmeer also abandoned early, causing the deployment of the safety car. Will Palmer (R-ace GP) was leading the race followed by Henrique Chaves (AVF) and Robert Shwartzman (R-ace GP).

As the safety car left the track, Alex Matus (AVF), who was in fourth position, was overtaken by Alex Peroni (Fortec Motorsports). But then, the very young Renault driver Max Fewtrell (Tech 1 Racing) would arrive with great pace to overtake both drivers for the fourth place.

During the race, the comeback of Sacha Fenestraz (Josef Kaufmann Racing) should be emphasized. He started ninth, but managed to end in fifth place.

Finally, victory for Will Palmer, who extends his lead in the drivers’ championship with 62 points. Fenestraz is second, 16 points from the Brit, while Shwartzman is third, 22 points down.
