Mike-David Ortmann has taken the victory of the second round of ADAC Formel 4, during the Race 1 at Sachsenring. Mawson finished second as pole sitter Kim Luis Schramm completes the podium.
Race 1 pole sitter, Kim Luis Schramm (US Racing) had a poor start and dropped to fourth place at the start. Mike-David Ortmann (ADAC Berlin-Brandenburg e.V.) took the lead in front of Mick Schumacher (Prema Powerteam) and Joey Mawson (Van Amersfoort Racing).
Mawson quickly overtook Schumacher for the second place, before the first safety car period, which was caused due by Toni Wolf (KUG-Motorsport) and Juri Vips (Prema Powerteam).
On lap 4, the action returned to the track, Mawson defended well his position on Schumacher at turn 1, but the son of 7 times world champion managed to overtook him at turn 3. Anyway, the Australian didn’t gave up and managed to overtake the German. Behind them, Schramm took the advantage of Mawson move to overtake Schumacher as well.
At half point of the race, Ortmann couldn’t kept the gap but Mawson couldn’t too. So Schramm started to attack Mawson for second place. This fight helped Ortmann to escape from his rivals, and taking his first victory of the season.
