Ocon will revert back to 2022 programme with ‘no life’

Esteban Ocon, F1

Esteban Ocon will revert back to life how it was back in 2022 F1 season where there were less off-track programmes and full race mode.

After he lost to teammate Pierre Gasly in 2023 F1 season, Alpine’s Ocon has decided to go back to his 2022 self where he had less off-track activations and more time spent on training and preparing for races with the mindset on race mode.

While he lost to Gasly, it wasn’t due to performance gap as much as it was down to reliability in certain races. He had more DNFs than his teammate which cost him dearly, despite putting in solid performances all-through the 2023 F1 season.

Ocon noted about training until Christmas and then taking a small break before getting back in the war mode from January 2. “From January 2nd until the first test I will be back fully into training camp,” he said to media. “I’m going to be more doing the way I was doing it in 2022, which is no life, flat out, only racing.

“We’ve been doing a lot of different things and activations outside the track this year. That’s going to change next year. It’s back to war mode and fully focused on the racing side. Before that we had a Christmas party of the team, there was some simulator work too. I had a couple of days seeing my family that I haven’t seen for a while.

“We also had some good times with friends, with Mick [Schumacher], with all my friends, and pretty soon, it will be fully focused on next year,” summed up Ocon, who will be gunning to at least beat his teammate and also to secure his F1 future with his contract going up at the end of 2024.
