Esteban Ocon reckons Haas should have scored a lot more points in second half of F1 2025 than it did, as he says beating rivals should be priority.

Having scored 79 points in all of F1 2025, Haas still ended up only eighth in the constructors’, beating Sauber and Alpine. They were 10 points off of Aston Martin and 13 off of Visa Cash App RB, which meant they missed sixth only by just and Ocon believes that they should have scored more.

One issue on his end left them in a bad spot when Oliver Bearman managed to score well. The Frenchman thinks they could have scored more if not for the late realisation of the issue. “Well, we’ve clearly shown that, we’ve had issues with the car for the last 10 races,” said Ocon to media.

“So, Ollie has done an amazing job. He’s been very strong all season. But we shouldn’t have been half a second off every lap like we’ve been in the last 10. So, next year we will be both fighting for points and hopefully we will maximise the results all together as a team.

“We should have been up there and that’s why we lost the constructor championship, unfortunately,” summed up Ocon. In saying so, the Frenchman doesn’t see scoring more points as a victory than beating rivals. The 79 they scored is the second best points accumulation for Haas since 2018.

They scored 98 then and failed to cross even 50 for five seasons until 2024 when they managed 58 and upped it to 79 in 2025. “But that doesn’t matter,” said Ocon. “The important thing is to beat the others. It doesn’t matter how many points you are scoring.

“Yes, it’s probably more than the past years, but you need to beat the others. That’s what the competition is. Everyone has done that, so it means it’s tight and it means we need to do better,” summed up Ocon, who rated four races as his highlight of the season where he scored well.

It all came in the first half of the season. “China, Monaco, yeah, I was P7,” continued Ocon. “Bahrain was very good. Coming back from quite far away after a crash in qualifying, it was good. I think Canada was also nice, but probably not in that order.”
