Esteban Ocon and Oliver Bearman said they will review their coming together in F1 British GP, after Haas squandered opportunity to score well.

For a change, the opportunistic time to score well in an open grand prix went to the rivals of Haas than the American F1 outfit in British GP at Silverstone. Often we have seen how Ocon climbs up the order in the past races, but it wasn’t to be for either of the drivers, in fact.

They looked to score but some bad calls didn’t help, especially on the side of Ocon. The Frenchman noted about lots of discussions, but ultimately they stopped at the wrong time always. “It was a frustrating race,” he said to media. “I think we did everything well in the beginning and then it completely fell apart which we need to review.

“So many things has happened, we should have pitted for new inter. We discussed a lot with the team but clearly that one was missed overall. From there, we boxed when everyone was bunched together, so we lost all the progress that we made. There’s a lot to review, it wasn’t an easy one and not a fun from inside the car.

“The car was also pretty difficult to drive the whole race, so it was about trying to stay on track pretty much the whole race, it wasn’t fun,” summed up Ocon, who escaped Turn 1 incident without major damage after Liam Lawson took the maximum to retire. The Frenchman had nowhere to go after Yuki Tsunoda tried to sneak in on the inside. That was not the only collision though.

At the latter stage, Ocon and teammate Bearman came together in an unfortunate incident where the stewards almost put the blame on the Frenchman by noting that the Brit had the apex line. “At the start, I am glad that everyone is okay,” he continued. “There was someone [Yuki] on the inside and I could see that both were going to close on me.

“So I braked and when I braked to avoid the collision, Liam close a little bit more and he took the whole energy of impact. My car was apparently fine which was a miracle and then [with Bearman], I am disappointed about the situation, sad as well but we will review and see what we could have done better,” summed up Ocon, as teammate Bearman echoed the Frenchman.

“It was a close one, so I need to review what happened,” he said. “It was messy, of course I had really warm tyres and everyone else had much cooler tyres, I had a lot more grip at that stage but yeah, it was a mess,” summed up Bearman, who was turned around by Yuki Tsunoda as well which further dampened him after bad strategy choice at the start.

“I think my decision to pit for slicks in the early lap was probably not the right one, it seemed like the right call as the track was dry in lot of places, but it was wet in Turn 1 and last chicane, that was what was costing me and everyone in the early laps,” said Bearman. “It is a shame really that we come away with nothing because the car felt very quick.”
