Niko Kari on top in day 1 of GP3 testing at the Yas Marina Circuit, Abu Dhabi. The finn managed a nicely timed lap at 1:54.960, taking the top of the timesheet by almost 0.2s from Alessio Lorandi and Giuliano Alesi.
Niko Kari has been the quickest driver of day 1 post-season testing in Abu Dhabi. The Finn managed to claim the top spot in the morning session, even though he only managed 7 timed laps. During the session we saw other drivers like Tatiana Calderon, Ryan Tveter, Jake Hughes and Alesi topping the timesheet, but in the end it was all going to happen between Kari and Lorandi.
Kari tops the morning session, followed by Lorandi and Alesi. Daruvala, Teeter, Pulcini, Hughes, Calderon, Aubry and Correa complete the morning top 10.
In the afternoon session we saw Callum Ilott topping the timesheet with a 1:55.277. The briton still being almost 0.3s off Kari‘s morning lap, but with the different weather and track conditions in mind this was normal. Giuliano Alesi could be found at the top again in 2ne, followed by Pulcini and Daruvala. Alessio Lorandi could be found in fifth position in the afternoon session, followed by Piquet, while the mornings leader, Kari, could only be found in 7th. Mazepin, Hughes and Aubry complete the afternoon’s top 10.
Combined we see Niko Kari on top of day 1, followed by Alessio Lorandi and Callum Ilott. Giuliano Alesi comes in in 4th, followed by Pulcini, Daruvala, Piquet, Mazepin, Hughes and Aubry completes the day’s top 10.
