It was Nico Rosberg who has prevailed between the Mercedes due to Hamilton’s error. They are followed by Vettel and Williams, followed Ricciardo. Long overdue Ferraris, Vergne and Button completed the TOP10.
Qualifying session was marked by accidents and dominance of the Mercedes. Equality between Williams and Red Bull have made an entertaining Q3 session. After a session like this, an exciting race tomorrow is expected.
The Q1 has been a very eventful session. The track was dirty and lock-ups and track outputs were continuous; almost all pilots have suffered. Pastor Maldonado stopped her car on the third curve in and left being thirteen. Nico Hülkenberg starred in a spin to stop touching grass. The session finished with a red flag for the final few seconds after Markus Ericsson accidentase. Maldonado, the Marussia and Caterham out of Q2. Also Gutierrez, who has not left the track after failing to repair the car accident the third practice session.
In Q2 the Williams began to impress. Bottas and Massa marked 15.7 and 15.8 respectively. Alonso, with 16.1 declaring to Stella that he has made a “good lap.” Worried seeing that Mercedes were able to get off the 1:15. Vettel was saved in the act and Vergne and Button surprisingly arriving in Q3. The Force India wereboth outside.
Time of Q3. After four minutes the drivers began to set times. Most with good ones except Räikkönen -who hadn’t set a time yet-, prepared to use soft tyres and go for it. The Mercedes cars were the only ones to score below 1:15. Far from them, seven tenths away was Vettel and the two Williams. Alonso was seventh and tenth Räikkönen. This is not their favourite circuit and only with a good strategy can avoid a blow. “We need to try to have a good race, the qualifying did not go well because we had expectations of being in front of Red Bull. We will try to make a good start and have a good pace with a good strategy for tomorrow, but it’s not easy.” said Fernando Alonso.
So, it has finally been Nico Rosberg who got P1, contrary to all expectations that the times of other sessions caused. That was because Lewis Hamilton has made a mistake in the third corner. And he didn’t look very happy while getting off the car. What will bring tomorrow’s race? Will Hamilton attack?
The race will be tomorrow at 20:00 CET, 2 pm in Canada.
