The new Lotus E21 has been launched in Enstone in front of a great expectation. The presentation has been shown live on SkySports, YouTube, and Formula Rapida with more than 13,000 visits.
The excitement was huge: it is the first car we see in 2013. The main surprise is that they kept the “duck nose”, the one we didn’t expect to see in the new cars, but Lotus has chosen the best aerodynamic evolution they have found. Visually the most significant change is the colour red on the sides and in the part of the T-Cam, with the driver’s name.
Lotus team principal, Eric Bouiller, said: “We expect to be in the top three”. He has also supported undoubtedly his second driver Romain Grosjean of all the criticism he received. “Romain is good at qualifying, he can make big races and there’s no reason to exclude him from the team. They are two drivers that will give us good points”.
Kimi Raikkonen has been optimistic: “I think we will do better this year. We all start with 0 points”, he joked. “The new regulation will not affect us much, since it is the same for everyone.”
Romain Grosjean was also optimistic: “In 2012, Kimi won one race and we have been in some podiums. Now we have to do it more often.”
