Norman Nato has been the quickest of Day 3 of FIA Formula 2 pre-season testing at circuit of Barcelona-Catalunya, thanks to his lap time set in the morning session. The quickest in the afternoon was Ghiotto ahead of Cecotto and De Vries.
CIRCUIT BARCELONA-CATALUNYA – The first week of pre-season testing days of FIA Formula 2 at Barcelona-Catalunya has finished after a fantastic sunny week, which helped the teams to work with the best conditions. For instance, this afternoon the track temperature arrived at 26ºC which let the drivers complete long runs.
After a really competitive lap times this morning, Norman Nato (Pertamina Arden) set 1 1:27.834 which has been the fastest lap time of the 3 days of testing. In the afternoon not all the field set a lap time under 1:30 excepting the top3, due to the race simulations that teams were doing.
In the afternoon session some red flags appeared. Johnny Cecotto lost a rear wheel of his Rapax at the pit lane entry. Then it was Roberto Merhi (Campos Racing) who stopped his car at “La Caixa” turn because he run out of fuel.
Luca Ghiotto (Russian Time) was the fastest if the afternoon session with a lap time of 1:29.565, ahead of the Rapax of Cecotto and Nyck de Vries. Local drivers, Roberto Merhi and Sergio Canamasas (Trident) completed the top5. Both still unsure to be in the next pre-season test at Bahrain, but the chances to get a full season still open.
The next pre-season test days of FIA Formula 2 will be held on 29-30-31 of March at Sakhir International Circuit, Bahrain.
