The NASCAR Cup competition has seen an intense day at the WWT Raceway, characterized by a record of 18 yellow flags. Despite the chaos, Denny Hamlin continues to lead the standings with just nine points ahead.
Kyle Larson, who secured his first win in 51 races, has been the big winner, climbing five spots and positioning himself right behind Hamlin in the fight for the lead. The winner of the Southern 500, Christopher Bell, is now thirteen points further back, occupying third place.
In contrast, drivers Chase Briscoe and Daniel Suarez have been the most affected, dropping to eighth and last position in the standings, respectively. Meanwhile, Shane van Gisbergen holds the sixteenth position, although Brad Keselowski and Ross Chastain are closing in with standout performances at Gateway.
The next challenge for the NASCAR Cup Series will be at Bristol Motor Speedway, where drivers will face off in a 500-lap race.
