Nakamura-Berta dominates the first day of post-season testing for FIA F3 in Jerez

Kean Nakamura-Berta, driver of Trident, concluded the first day of post-season testing for FIA F3 in Jerez with the best time, marking a 1:31.169 and surpassing Ernesto Rivera of Campos, who had led the morning session.

During the morning, the teams opted for a slow start, focusing on installation laps during the first 90 minutes. James Egozi of AIX was the first to take to the track, achieving the fastest time of the morning with a 1:34.526, which he improved to 1:32.680, leading by half a second to Maciej Gladysz of MP Motorsport.

However, Egozi did not hold the lead for too long, as Matteo De Palo set a time of 1:31.867. His teammate, Gladysz, also improved, placing himself just 0.582s behind the Italian.

The competition became more intense when Miguel Costa of DAMS Lucas Oil set a time of 1:31.829, surpassing De Palo with a small margin of 0.038s. Campos Racing, last year’s champions, took to the track during the final 30 minutes, with Rivera achieving the best time of 1:31.217, closely followed by Mattia Colnaghi.

Enzo Deligny of Van Amersfoort was the only driver to improve in the final moments, placing himself between the two Campos drivers with a 1:31.405.

Afternoon Session

After the lunch break, the drivers quickly resumed, with Rivera leading again with a time of 1:31.784. However, Niccolò Maccagnani of Trident marked a time of 1:31.632, moving to the top of the table.

Rashid Al Dhaheri also did well in four places, while Costa maintained a competitive pace and moved up to third position. As the session progressed, Nakamura-Berta found the ideal moment to clock a time of 1:31.169, placing himself at the front.

Maccagnani’s teammate closely followed with a 1:31.213, ensuring that Trident occupied the top two positions in the final minutes of the day. Colnaghi closed the podium, just 0.002s behind Nakamura-Berta. Rivera completed the top four before the session ended prematurely due to the stoppage of Abkhazava.

Additionally, the afternoon times of Abkhazava and Egozi were invalidated for failing to meet technical requirements, altering the final classification. Alessandro Giusti finished in fifth place, followed by Taito Kato, De Palo, Sebastian Wheldon, and Emmanuele Olivieri.
