Jorge Martin took a comfortable MotoGP win in Indonesian GP ahead of Pedro Acosta, as Francesco Bagnaia recovers to third.

It was a clean start at the front in MotoGP Indonesian GP for Pramac Ducati’s Jorge Martin to retain lead from Ducati’s Enea Bastianini and GASGAS Tech 3’s Pedro Acosta in the Top 3, as Ducati’s Francesco Bagnaia was fourth still despite not having the greatest of starts.

VR46 Ducati’s Marco Bezzecchi was fifth from Pramac’s Franco Morbidelli, with Gresini’s Marc Marquez in seventh from VR46’s Fabio di Giannantonio, Yamaha’s Fabio Quartararo and Aprilia’s Maverick Vinales in the Top 10.

Just behind, Gresini’s Alex Marquez had a crash in a skittle-like slip to take KTM’s Jack Miller, Aprilia’s Aleix Espargaro and Honda’s Luca Marini, with the incident under investigation, which left only 17 riders running.

As Martin continued to lead, Bastianini started to struggle with his rear tyres and lost places. Acosta first picked him up and it was followed by Bezzecchi and Morbidelli for him to drop down to fifth in the order, with Morbidelli clearing Bezzecchi for third.

Bagnaia too dropped down to sixth ahead of the fighting duo of Marquez and di Giannantonio. The two went at each other lap after lap and corner after corner jostling for positions until the latter had a crash to retire from the grand prix.

And to a co-incidence, Marquez too had to retire with 15 laps to go after his bike caught fire. It was not the end of both the Gresini riders, but also both the Honda riders after Joan Mir crashed out, to leave only 14 runners in the grand prix.

Martin, meanwhile, continued to lead from Acosta and Morbidelli, but Bastianini got back his pace to clear Bezzecchi for fourth. The group was joined by Bagnaia, who like his teammate started to show better pace in the second part of the race.

Vinales was up to seventh from KTM’s Brad Binder, who was eighth from 19th, with LCR Honda’s Johann Zarco in ninth, Quartararo 10th, Trackhouse Aprilia’s Raul Fernandez 11th, LCR’s Takaaki Nakagami 12th, Tech 3’s Augusto Fernandez 13th and Yamaha’s Alex Rins 14th.

Both Martin and Acosta were at distant but Bastianini started to show his true pace. After clearing Bezzecchi, he got through Morbidelli after multiple attempts. He started to set fast laps with seven laps to go, but his push ended after a crash at Turn 1.

That made it 12 runners after the retirement of A Fernandez too. Bagnaia, meanwhile, cleared Bezzecchi and Morbidelli to move up to third to get crucial points in his MotoGP title fight. On the other hand, Martin took the win at the front in Indonesian GP.

Acosta was second but was under investigation for tyre pressure alongside Nakagami and Binder. The podium was completed by Bagnaia from Morbidelli, Bezzecchi, Vinales, Quartararo, Binder, Zarco, R Fernandez, Nakagami and Rins in the scoring list.
