MotoGP: Martin dominates in another sprint win in Japanese GP

MotoGP, Japanese GP

Jorge Martin dominated in another MotoGP sprint win in Japanese GP as Brad Binder was second from Francesco Bagnaia.

It was a clean start from pole for Jorge Martin in the Pramac Ducati in Japanese GP sprint at Motegi as KTM’s Jack Miller was passed by Brad Binder for second, where Ducati’s Francesco Bagnaia dropped to fourth from Honda’s Marc Marquez.

VR46 Ducati’s Marco Bezzecchi was sixth from Pramac’s Johann Zarco, but the Italian lost the place to the Frenchman. Gresini Ducati’s Fabio di Giannantonio and the Aprilia pair of Aleix Espargaro and Maverick Vinales rounded the Top 9 points places.

At the front, Martin had checked out well from Binder but Miller was under pressure from Bagnaia, while Marquez was fending off Bezzecchi who cleared Zarco but the Frenchman stayed with him along with Espargaro. He had passed di Giannantonio.

But a suspected mechanical issue ruled out Espargaro which put di Giannantonio in eighth from Vinales in the Top 9 places whereas RNF Aprilia’s Raul Fernandez was in 10th. There was a crucial fight for fifth where Bezzecchi pressured Marquez for a move.

They both ran wide as it allowed Zarco to sneak through to fifth. Just ahead of them, Bagnaia hustled Miller to eventually take a hard fought third as Martin took another MotoGP sprint win in Japanese GP from Binder to trim down the points gap.

Miller was fourth from Zarco as Bezzecchi passed Marquez for sixth as di Giannantonio slotted in eighth with the final point going to Vinales, as Fernandez rounded out the Top 10 position.
