Jorge Martin controls eventually to win the MotoGP Sprint in German GP from Francesco Bagnaia and Jack Miller.
It was a clean start from pole-sitter Francesco Bagnaia in MotoGP sprint in German GP onboard his Ducati despite KTM’s Jack Miller making a solid start as well. By the end of the lap, Bagnaia led Pramac Ducati’s Jorge Martin and Miller in the Top 3.
VR46 Ducati’s Luca Marini was fourth from KTM’s Brad Binder, VR46’s Marco Bezzecchi and Pramac’s Johann Zarco with Aprilia pair of Maverick Vinales and Aleix Espargaro rounding the Top 10, as Yamaha’s Fabio Quartararo dropped to 15th on Lap 1.
It was a close battle at the front with Miller taking the lead from Bagnaia and Martin, but the Italian came back for few corners before the Australian retook it. But as the two fought, Martin passed both on the inside to take the MotoGP German GP lead.
He stretched off after a slight fight with Miller. The Australian then lost to Bagnaia for second, with Marini steadying in fourth from Binder who cleared Marquez. In fact, the Honda rider dropped outside the Top 8 as the sprint progressed.
It was Zarco in sixth from Bezzecchi, with LCR Honda’s Alex Marquez and Ducati’s Enea Bastianini climbing up to ninth in the points places from Espargaro as teammate Vinales crashed out at Turn 1. Also to retire was GASGAS Tech 3’s Jonas Folger due to an issue.
As Martin led from Bagnaia and Miller, the fight for fourth was on with Marini defending hard from Binder. The South African did pass him but went wide for Marini to retake the place. Zarco sat just behind this two with Bezzecchi a bit far off.
At the front, Martin controlled it to win the MotoGP sprint in German GP from Bagnaia and Miller, with Marini holding fourth ahead of Zarco who barged through Binder for fifth but the move is under investigation. It was eventually cleared by them post-race.
Bezzecchi was seventh from A Marquez. The drag race to end saw Espargaro snatch the final point from Bastianini, as M Marquez was 11th with Quartararo 13th behind Gresini’s Fabio di Giannantonio.
