Marc Marquez resisted small pressure from Alex Marquez to win MotoGP sprint in Argentina GP, with Francesco Bagnaia a distant third.
It was spitting at the start of MotoGP sprint race in Argentina GP, where Ducati’s Marc Marquez got a good start to lead the way from Gresini Ducati’s Alex Marquez. The other Ducati of Francesco Bagnaia made up a place along with KTM’s Pedro Acosta to be fourth.
He passed Yamaha’s Fabio Quartararo, who was briefly in fourth. LCR Honda’s Johann Zarco dropped to sixth from the front row after a bad start, with the pair of VR46 Ducati of Fabio di Giannantonio and Franco Morbidelli in seventh and eighth ahead of KTM’s Brad Binder in ninth.
The South African tried a move on Morbidelli but left space for the Italian to fight back in the right-hander. In doing so, there was small tap which sent Binder into a crash. The incident was investigated but the VR46 rider was let off, but he dropped back to 10th.
It allowed Aprilia’s Marco Bezzecchi to be up to eighth from Honda’s Joan Mir in the points places. There was another crash involving Gresini’s Fermin Aledguer and Pramac Yamaha’s Miguel Oliveira, which will be investigated after the race. The former managed to continue on, but the latter retired.
M Marquez, meanwhile, continued to lead despite the pressure from A Marquez, as Bagnaia was a distant third. Behind them, Zarco found his way back up to fourth from di Giannantonio, Bezzecchi, Morbidelli, Acosta and Mir, where Acosta and Quartararo lost chunk of places.
It was status quo at the front as M Marquez took the MotoGP sprint win in Argentina GP against A Marquez and Bagnaia in the Top 3. Zarco was fourth from di Giannantonio, Bezzecchi and Morbidelli, as Mir passed Acosta for eighth to round out the nine points finishers – Quartararo missed out on it.
