Marc Marquez took yet another MotoGP pole in Americas GP ahead of Fabio di Giannantonio and Alex Marquez in the Top 3.

Q1:

It was jam-packed to start the first part in MotoGP qualifying in Americas GP at Circuit of the Americas considering they got dry running after wet Friday. But it a stop/start session as red flag halted proceedings with just over eight minutes remaining to run.

Trackhouse Aprilia’s Raul Fernandez ran wide on the kerb at Turn 9-10 to crash out as his bike rammed onto the barrier which was damaged in the process. They continued on for a brief while but eventually red-flagged the session, as Fernandez hurried to return to the pits to hop on the second bike.

It eventually became an eight minutes session as none of the riders had a time on board when the red flag was called in. It was Honda’s Luca Marini to lead the way initially as second-placed Yamaha’s Fabio Quartararo had to make a quick save on his second quick lap at Turn 1.

It stayed like that after Marini’s 2m02.001s was enough to place him in Q2 alongside Quartararo (2m02.113s), with Aprilia’s Marco Bezzecchi missing out in third to start 13th. The other Yamaha of Joan Mir was 14th ahead of LCR Honda’s Johann Zarco in the Top 15.

KTM’s Brad Binder was 16th ahead of Tech3 KTM’s Enea Bastianini, pair of Trackhouse rider Ai Ogura & Fernandez, with Pramac Yamaha’s Augusto Fernandez slotting in 20th ahead of LCR’s Somkiat Chantra and Aprilia’s Lorenzo Savadori to round out the 22 runners.

Q2:

The second part in MotoGP qualifying in Americas GP saw Ducati’s Marc Marquez set the pace with a 2m01.522s lap ahead of VR46 Ducati’s Fabio di Giannantonio and Ducati’s Francesco Bagnaia, with Gresini Ducati’s Alex Marquez slotting fourth from Honda’s Joan Mir.

Replays showed moments for both M Marquez and Mir where they had to save the bike. At the onset of the second run, Gresini’s Fermin Aldeguer had a moment at Turn 1 but managed to continue on. The final run was disrupted for at least di Giannantonio for the crash of Mir.

It was M Marquez to take MotoGP pole with a 2m01.088s lap in Americas GP. It was A Marquez in second but he was demoted to third after di Giannantonio’s lap was re-instated to hand him second ahead of A Marquez. It dropped KTM’s Pedro Acosta to fourth from VR46’s Franco Morbidelli.

Bagnaia could only manage sixth from Marini and Mir, who was still eighth despite his late fall. Pramac’s Jack Miller was ninth from Quartararo and Aldeguer to round out the 12 runners.
