Marc Marquez, Dutch GP, MotoGP

Marc Marquez passed three riders to win MotoGP sprint in Dutch GP ahead of Alex Marquez, as Marco Bezzecchi also makes places to third.

It was a clean first start in MotoGP sprint in Dutch GP at Assen but Yamaha’s Fabio Quartararo and Ducati’s Marc Marquez had minor touch which kept the Frenchman in front of the Spaniard. Gresini Ducati’s Alex Marquez got through Ducati’s Francesco Bagnaia to third.

Aprilia’s Marco Bezzecchi was fifth from Gresini’s Fermin Aldeguer, Tech 3 KTM’s Maverick Vinales, VR46 Ducati’s Fabio di Giannantonio and KTM’s Brad Binder in the points places, with LCR Honda’s Johann Zarco just outside. Honda’s Joan Mir suffered an early crash to retire.

Even Trackhouse Aprilia’s Raul Fernandez had a gravel moment, as the likes of KTM’s Pedro Acosta and VR46’s Franco Morbidelli dropped outside the points. At the front, M Marquez didn’t waste time to take the Dutch GP sprint lead from A Marquez, who quickly pounced on Quartararo.

Bezzecchi, meanwhile, cleared Bagnaia for fourth, di Giannantonio climbed up to sixth from Vinales, as Aldeguer dropped to ninth after improvement from Acosta into points in eighth. Even Binder dropped outside points, as Morbidelli started to climb up steadily after bad start.

It wasn’t going right for Bagnaia, who couldn’t clear Quartararo after he fell to Bezzecchi. The Italian lost fifth to di Giannantonio, with Vinales on the factory Ducati rider. They both gained a place after Quartararo crashed out with four laps to go due to pressure from di Giannantonio.

Several riders were pinged for track limits which included the Top 4 MotoGP riders. Aldeguer was the first to be handed a Long Gap Penalty eventually for track limits, which was followed by Acosta. The Spaniard did not get time to serve it, which was converted into time penalty.

At the front, M Marquez had enough to secure another MotoGP sprint win in Dutch GP ahead of A Marquez and Bezzecchi, with di Giannantonio in fifth ahead of Bagnaia, Vinales, Acosta, Aldeguer and Morbidelli in the Top 9 points places, where Binder missed out along with Zarco and others.
