Marc Marquez maintained his supremacy with MotoGP pole in Argentina GP from Alex Marquez, as Johann Zarco put Honda in third.
Q1:
The first part in MotoGP qualifying in Argentina GP took place under cloudy conditions as the weekend has been. The initial pace of 1m37.312s was set by VR46 Ducati’s Franco Morbidelli ahead of Pramac Yamaha’s Jack Miller in the Top 2, with Trackhouse Aprilia’s Ai Ogura in third.
Honda’s Joan Mir slotted in fourth from Gresini Ducati’s Fermin Aldeguer. The second run saw crash for LCR Honda’s Somkiat Chantra to end his run, as Ogura had a tumble of his own after improving his time. It was Morbidelli on top to make it in Q2 after his initial lap was enough to make it in.
Mir, meanwhile, upped his pace with a 1m37.526s lap to demote Miller by 0.078s and make it in Q2. The Australian was third to start 13th in the sprint and main race, as Aldeguer was 14th from Ogura, who did not lose much despite the crash. Honda’s Luca Marini was 16th from Pramac’s Miguel Oliveira.
The other Trackhouse of Raul Fernandez improved to 18th from Chantra, who did not lose a lot either despite the crash. The Tech 3 KTM pair of Maverick Vinales and Enea Bastianini only managed 20th and 21st, with Aprilia’s Lorenzo Savadori ending up 22nd.
Q2:
The second part in MotoGP qualifying in Argentina GP saw a relentless Marc Marquez in the Ducati in cloudy condition still. He set a 1m37.023s to lead the pack from Gresini’s Alex Marquez, who pipped LCR’s Johann Zarco to second, as Aprilia’s Marco Bezzecchi slotted in fourth.
KTM’s Pedro Acosta was fifth with Ducati’s Francesco Bagnaia only eighth. The final run saw M Marquez up his pace further to set a 1m36.917s lap to secure another MotoGP pole in Argentina GP ahead of A Marquez and Zarco as the Top 3 maintained their position in the front row.
Bagnaia improved to fourth from Acosta as VR46’s Fabio di Giannantonio was sixth ahead of Yamaha’s Fabio Quartararo, as Morbidelli made his way up to eighth to demote Bezzecchi to ninth. Mir was 10th from KTM’s Brad Binder and Yamaha’s Alex Rins to round out the 12 runners.
