Marc Marquez had it under control in MotoGP sprint win in Hungarian GP, ahead of VR46 riders Fabio di Giannantonio and Franco Morbidelli.
It was slightly cloudy to start MotoGP sprint in Hungarian GP at Balaton Park but Ducati’s Marc Marquez held on well to lead, while chaos ensued behind. Yamaha’s Fabio Quartararo ran in hot at Turn 1 and brushed VR46 Ducati’s Fabio di Giannantonio, to crash out of the race.
While di Giannantonio didn’t suffer as much, it wasn’t the same for Aprilia’s Marco Bezzecchi and KTM’s Pedro Acosta. The Italian dropped to eighth, while the Spaniard was outside of Top 10. The pair of VR46 riders fought for second, but it was di Giannantonio on top of Franco Morbidelli.
The pair of Hondas also made up places, with Luca Marini up in fourth from Joan Mir. Gresini Ducati’s Fermin Aldeguer was sixth from KTM’s Pol Espargaro, Bezzecchi and Gresini’s Alex Marquez in the Top 9 points places, with Pramac Yamaha’s Jack Miller just outside in 10th from Acosta.
Aprilia’s Jorge Martin was just behind, as Ducati’s Francesco Bagnaia was only 14th. There was a run-in by Tech 3 KTM’s Enea Bastianini on LCR Honda’s Johann Zarco in the mid-pack, which caught out Yamaha’s Alex Rins as well. The former two crashed out, while the latter managed to continue.
Both Quartararo and Bastianini were put under investigation. While the Top 4 settled in, Mir’s wide moment allowed Aldeguer to fifth. Espargaro came under pressure from Bezzecchi, who cleared him off and was followed by A Marquez after few laps of trial, where he found success but couldn’t hold initially.
They had Martin ahead of Acosta after the Aprilia rider managed to clear the KTM early on. Acosta tried to come back and passed him at Turn 11 but fell off. He managed to pick up and re-join at the back. Martin, meanwhile, took ninth from Espargaro to get into the points places.
It was clean at the front for M Marquez as he secured yet another MotoGP sprint win in Hungarian GP ahead of VR46 pair of di Giannantonio and Morbidelli. The latter managed to hold off Marini, who held off Aldeguer in the end. Mir was sixth in a good result for the Honda MotoGP factory riders.
He managed to hold off Bezzecchi, with A Marquez in eighth and Martin in ninth, closing off the Top 9 points places. Espargaro was 10th from Trackhouse Aprilia’s Raul Fernandez, as Bagnaia could only manage 13th, while Acosta was 17th.
