Next week, the MotoGP championship will experience a historic moment with the first official test using Pirelli tires. This change of supplier, which replaces Michelin starting in 2027, will take place in Brno, an iconic circuit in the Czech Republic.
The test, scheduled for Monday, June 22, will feature ten riders from five different manufacturers. All of them will be able to try out the new 850 cc motorcycles equipped with Pirelli tires, marking a new era in motorcycle racing.
The riders representing Ducati will be Marc Márquez and Fermin Aldeguer. In the KTM team, Pedro Acosta and Dani Pedrosa will be seen. As for Honda, Joan Mir and Luca Marini will participate, while Yamaha will have Toprak Razgatlioglu and test rider Augusto Fernández. Initially, Marco Bezzecchi and Raúl Fernández were scheduled for Aprilia, but the latter will not participate due to a health issue.
Tire composition
Although the test will be held behind closed doors, Pirelli has provided details about its range of tires. The riders will have access to a total of 15 different tires, including seven options for the front wheel and eight for the rear. This includes soft, medium, and hard tires, as well as rain tires that will return to the market after their previous removal.
Test objectives
The main objective of this test is to collect crucial data for tire development, as well as to prepare for a race simulation during the day. The session will start at 9 AM, with a break for lunch, and is expected to conclude at 6 PM.
The next official test will take place on September 21, right after the Austrian Grand Prix, and will be open to private teams ahead of the first pre-season test of 2027, which will be held in Valencia on December 1.
