Brad Binder came through 15th to win MotoGP Sprint in Argentina GP from Marco Bezzecchi and Luca Marini.
It was a dry run in MotoGP Sprint in Argentina GP as pole-sitter Alex Marquez had a goodish start in his Gresini Ducati but Yamaha’s Franco Morbidelli had a better one from fourth to lead the race, with VR46 Ducati’s Luca Marini moving up to third.
The biggest gainer of all was KTM’s Brad Binder who was fourth from outside the Top 10. Aprilia’s Maverick Vinales was fifth from VR46’s Marco Bezzecchi, Ducati’s Francesco Bagnaia, Aprilia’s Aleix Espargaro and LCR Honda’s Takaaki Nakagami in Top 9.
Honda’s Joan Mir crashed out and was taken to the medical center, as Morbidelli led the way from Binder who cleared Marini and Marquez to be second. The fight saw Bagnaia in fifth from Espargaro, Vinales, Bezzecchi and Pramac Ducati’s Jorge Martin in Top 9.
It didn’t take long for Binder to pounce on Morbidelli and despite some resistance, the South African took the MotoGP Sprint lead in Argentina GP. Marini steadied in third from Marquez and Bezzecchi who cleared both Bagnaia in the early part.
But the trio continued their fight for the rest of the race with Bagnaia getting back on them. Bezzecchi then cleared Bagnaia to fourth as Marquez dropped to sixth from Espargaro, Vinales and Yamaha’s Fabio Quartararo in the Top 9 for the points.
The Frenchman managed to pass Martin in the process. As Binder stretched his lead, Morbidelli was cleared by both Marini and Bezzecchi to be second and third. The two teammates then got in their own fight where Bezzecchi took second from Marini.
Morbidelli was fourth from Bagnaia, Marquez, Vinales, Quartararo and Martin in the Top 9 after a crash for Espargaro. At the front, Binder held off Bezzecchi on the line by 0.072s to win the MotoGP Sprint in Argentina GP with Marini in third.
Binder came through from 15th to secure the win, as Morbidelli hung on to fourth from Marquez who cleared Bagnaia in the final corner to be fifth as Vinales was seventh from Martin who cleared Quartararo on the final to demote him to ninth.

UPDATE: Following further medical checks, Mir has been declared unfit to take part in Argentina GP. After a morning medical check, Joan Mir was declared unfit for the Argentina GP by MotoGP and circuit medical staff due to cranial and cervical trauma. Undergoing CT and ultrasound tests at the Hospital Santiago del Estero, cervical physiological lordosis was confirmed and Mir continued to experience feelings of nausea and dizziness. Mir will return home to Europe to continue his recovery to be fully prepared for the Grand Prix of the Americas, April 14 – 16.
