Marco Bezzecchi took the MotoGP sprint win in San Marino GP after fall for Marc Marquez, as Alex Marquez was second from Fabio di Giannantonio.
It was a clean getaway from Aprilia’s Marco Bezzecchi to lead MotoGP sprint in San Marino GP at Misano. In fact, Gresini Ducati’s Alex Marquez made a good start too, but lost second to Ducati’s Marc Marquez after he took an aggressive inside line in the corner.
Yamaha’s Fabio Quartararo dropped to fourth from VR46 Ducati pair of Fabio di Giannantonio and Franco Morbidelli. Honda’s Luca Marini was seventh from Gresini’s Fermin Aldeguer and KTM’s Pedro Acosta in the Top 9 points places, as Aprilia’s Jorge Martin was 10th.
Ducati’s Francesco Bagnaia dropped to 11th after Lap 1 and lost further places to be 13th. Acosta, meanwhile, passed Aldeguer and Marini in a space of few laps to be seventh. M Marquez started to hustle Bezzecchi at the front, but behind them Quartararo had a fall from fourth.
He managed to re-join but his chance of podium was gone. No sooner after that, Bezzecchi had a moment at Turn 4, which allowed M Marquez to get through him in the MotoGP sprint lead in Turn 6. But his sprint run ended at Turn 15 when he lost the front end to crash from the lead.
Bezzecchi retook the MotoGP sprint lead from A Marquez, as di Giannantonio was third in a battle with teammate Morbidelli behind. Acosta was up to fifth from Aldeguer, who cleared Marini for track position. Martin was up to eighth from Trackhouse Aprilia’s Raul Fernandez in the points.
Tech 3 KTM’s Enea Bastianini climbed up on the tip of points in 10th. Outside the points, KTM’s Brad Binder was forced to stop due to potential mechanical issue. Despite the hustle from A Marquez, Bezzecchi managed to hold him off to win MotoGP sprint in San Marino GP by 1.000s.
A Marquez had to settle for second but kept his outside chance to MotoGP title alive. Di Giannantonio held onto to third from teammate Morbidelli, as Acosta held onto fifth from Aldeguer. Marini was seventh from Martin and R Fernandez in the Top 9 points places.
