Francesco Bagnaia came through string of crashes to take MotoGP pole in German GP ahead of Luca Marini and Jack Miller.

Q1:

The first part in MotoGP qualifying in German GP at Sachsenring saw drying conditions which made it tricky for the riders. Honda’s Marc Marquez led the way initially with a 1m27.636s lap from RNF Aprilia’s Miguel Oliveira to be in the prime position.

KTM’s Brad Binder was outside the Top 2 in third from Yamaha’s Franco Morbidelli and Gresini Ducati’s Fabio di Giannantonio. As the riders started their second run, Marquez crashed in the final corner and sprinted to the pits to hop on the second bike.

Only Marquez and Binder took the slick tyres and ended up on top with the South African leading after setting a 1m24.655s lap from the Spaniard. Aprilia’s Maverick Vinales was third to start the MotoGP sprint and the main race from 13th.

Di Giannantonio was 14th from GASGAS Tech 3’s Augusto Fernandez as Oliveira had to be content with 16th from Morbidelli. LCR Honda’s Takaaki Nakagami was 18th from RNF’s Raul Fernandez and Tech 3’s Jonas Folger to round the 20 runners.

Q2:

The second part in MotoGP qualifying in German GP saw dry running to start off on a drying track. Honda’s Marquez had a second crash in the final corner with VR46 Ducati’s Marco Bezzecchi crashing in the same place a lap later.

Interestingly, Marquez found his way back in the pits with his bike, while Bezzecchi came sprinted in as well. It was Ducati’s Francesco Bagnaia at the front with a 1m22.028s lap from Pramac Ducati’s Jorge Martin and VR46’s Luca Marini.

A crash for Pramac’s Johann Zarco in the final sector, while a third crash for Marquez in Turn 1 hampered several riders on their final lap. Despite going quicker, their laps were deleted which left Bagnaia on top with a 1m21.409s lap.

The Italian took MotoGP pole in German GP ahead of Marini with KTM’s Jack Miller in the Top 3 from Zarco, who retained fourth despite his crash. Bezzecchi came back to be fifth from Martin with Marquez in seventh from Gresini’s Alex Marquez.

Binder was ninth from Aprilia’s Aleix Espargaro with Ducati’s Enea Bastianini in 11th as he slowly gets back to his self, while Yamaha’s Fabio Quartararo could only managed 12th after showing some good pace early on.
